How to Install Yoast on WordPress

The great thing about WordPress is that it not only is it a super easy web design platform but that it offers a ton of incredibly useful features referred to as “plugins”.

Plugins are individual digital add-ons you can activate to work with your WordPress website that has their own unique functions. You can activate plugins for simple contact forms, chat boxes, email sign-ups, and more. Most of them are free, and some of the more robust plugins or plugin packages cost a small fee.

One of the most useful free plugins is an SEO plugin called “Yoast”. Yoast provides you with reports on the health of your site’s SEO and makes suggestions on how it can be improved. It also will point out any bugs or kinks in the operation of your WordPress site.

Here is a written instruction on how you can activate Yoast for your WordPress site;

1.Log in to your WordPress account

Start by going to WordPress.com and logging in to your WordPress dashboard. If you log in and you’re in the “Reader” area, click on the “My Site” tab in the upper right-hand corner of the page

2.Upgrade to the Business Plan if you don’t already have it

If you already have the business plan, you can skip this step. The “Business Plan” that WordPress offers has a variety of features and functions specially designed to help businesses and companies gain traction on the web. If you don’t already have the business plan, it’s a worthy investment as long as it suits your needs. Review the features and decide if it’s best for you.

3.Click “Plug-ins” in your menu

Once you’re set-up with the WordPress Business Plan, click “Plugins” in your left-hand menu. It’s toward the bottom of the menu. 

4.Click the “Yoast SEO” plugin 

You’ll immediately see the “Yoast SEO” plugin upon clicking “Plugins”. It’s under the ”Featured” section in the center of the page.

5.Click “Install”

With the purchase of the Business Plan, this may already be automatically installed for you, in which case, it’ll say “Installed”. If not, click “Install” to activate the plugin. 

6.Click “After Activation” below

If Yoast is installed, or you have installed it, you’ll see “After Activation”. Click on it in order to learn more about how the plugin functions within your WordPress site, and see how it’ll begin reporting.

Congrats! You’ve now got the Yoast SEO plugin working for your site, which you’ll soon find is a really valuable tool that will help you get your feet wet in the SEO world. Get ready to top those rankings!
