Design Your Website Without Code
It’s something that practically every small business owner has encountered—a need for a website. And since you probably have a great idea of what you really want and need, it makes sense to want to build it yourself.
But if you’re like me, you probably aren’t an expert in the code that builds the foundation of web pages. Don’t fret! There are tools to help you design your website without using code.
In full disclosure, my personal experience is with WordPress, and the best free WordPress plugin I’ve found for designing a website is Elementor.
What is Elementor?
First things first, its drag-and-drop page builder is very easy to manipulate, and you see changes as you make them, which eliminates the need for the back-and-forth with back-end code. In addition, you can edit text live on the page.
Elementor includes a large selection of templates, which are invaluable if you’re not particularly design savvy. And if you’re on the move, you can even edit your website from a mobile device.
For landing pages, a traditional layout is usually not what you need, and Elementor has a feature for that purpose called Elementor Canvas. Their landing page tool allows you to create exactly what you need, and you get dozens of widgets to enhance functionality.
Part of what sets Elementor aside from the wide world of page builders is the opportunity to design with a more professional hand. Your page designs go beyond the basics and look like you’ve employed a pro.
And because we’re all human, Elementor includes a Revision History feature where you can backtrack and undo your changes to a previous version.
One of the best things about Elementor is that although there is a paid version, the free version will help you achieve most of what you need.
How Does It Work?
Elementor is a WordPress plugin, and it works by stacking itself on top of the standard WordPress editor. You’ll be able to see live changes instead of having to switch to a preview mode.
How To Get It
Go to Elementor’s website and download and install the WordPress plugin. You have the option of making advanced changes to your settings, but it’s optional. When you go to your WordPress page, the option to use Elementor should now be available.
In short, for a what-you-see-is-what-you-get page builder, Elementor is one of the best. There are many different page builders out there, but I think that having the flexibility to create more professional designs in an easy user interface is what sets Elemental apart.
